Obsession Series
After posting the Knolling series, I explained to a friend how one of the images in the Nerds variations is practically a self-portrait.
Images
Although the man doesn’t look like me, everything about him — the jeans, the sneakers, the overstuffed computers and camera lenses lying around him, is basically me. If I face-swap the render with my face, all the people I know in real life would instantly recognize that it’s my self portrait.
That got me thinking — what if I actually turned these into portraits?
I have long wanted to portray what someone who love sneakers look like, so that makes for the perfect opportunity. I surround the men with many sneakers, organized neatly in a knolling layout.
As a bonus, I have added an image at the end that features only sneakers. You can see just how nice this arrangement would be for an ad for Nike.
Tech
I was able to keep the style of these knolling renders relatively consistent because I used img2img for them. Img2Img is similar to control nets, but unlike control nets, the style and colors give a lot of influences. The parameters used here won’t look the same as Automatic1111 because I used Replicate for them. The SDXL model on Replicate was published by the Stability team.
