This composition marks the second installment in the series, merging the vibrant energy of paint splatters often seen in abstract expressionist paintings — inspired by artists like Jackson Pollock — with typography and a male figure.
Before creating this set, I had previously attempted another set which, in my opinion, did not meet my desired level of success. I may consider sharing that first set at a later time. For now, I find it more meaningful to showcase works that I believe have achieved the desired outcome, which brings us to this particular composition.
Similar to the previous set, I designed a composition using the word 'JOCK' and incorporated abstract forms in black and white within Adobe Illustrator. I exported the design as a 1024x1024 PNG image, which I then fed into the Canny control net in Stable Diffusion. In the text prompt, I articulated the specific image I envisioned — an arrangement featuring a soccer player adorned in a blue, yellow, and white soccer uniform, complete with shorts and sneakers. I also included concepts of paint splatters, energy, and dust in the prompt. Through the collaboration of the control net and Stable Diffusion, the final image emerged, blending abstract expressionism and cubism due to the distinct lines in my initial illustration.
By meticulously fine-tuning the control weight, start, and end parameters, I am able to determine the level of visibility and legibility I desire for the typography. This allows the type to undergo various degrees of deconstruction, visible in the ten images comprising this set. Additionally, this manipulation enables the typography to evolve into new forms and colors, as showcased in the first image. The same concept is also reflected in the movement of the figure, where the body is divided into multiple parts through the construction lines, yet the overall composition remains cohesive and unified.
