Shoreline Stamina: Coach Dan’s Morning Team Workout
I recently had a chat with Danny Akers on Instagram, who goes by the handle @dan_e_akers. I love sneakers, and he has lots of nice ones. I know that’s a really bizarre reason to chat with someone, but what can I say — besides sneakers, he has lots of nice tshirts as well, and I must find out where he got them from!
From our chat, I discovered that he works out at a school gym. He also mentioned that he sometimes sees himself as a coach. Inspired by this, I thought it would be fun to create a series of images featuring him as the coach, leading the team on refreshing beach jogs for their morning and evening exercise. Here are the results.

This was one of the funnest projects I’ve worked on recently. I was inspired by the photos that @dan_e_akers posts to his feed, so I asked him if he would mind if I make some images of him, and was quite happy that he’s ok with that.
One truly great thing about these images is that he answered almost all of my questions about creative direction with a simple answer — “artist choice!” — down to the order of images that I eventually posted.
The best creative brief you could tell an artist or a designer is "do whatever you want / I trust your vision". In my professional line of work (design), the projects with this brief also tend to end up winning international design awards. I appreciate this a lot. Thank you. You’re a joy to work with! / GD8
