Polo, Suddenly Gay

It was just a regular polo game on a Sunday afternoon, but then…

It has been a while since I posted images from the Polo series. They have been sitting in the backlog for so long that I have almost forgotten about them. These were one of the earliest renders that I made with Airfuck’s Wild Mix. I was very happy with the results, but I’ve made so many of them that I felt the immense pressure of having to process them, and so they’ve just been sitting around as I moved on to other series.

Originally, I was planning to post these in a more linear fashion, with the men playing the game on horses, then eventually leading up to them being on the ground. But I see now that I simply have too many active projects going on, and if I don’t post them soon, I’ll never post them — so that’s why I decided to just get to the conclusion of what I originally planned, and post these very hot kisses with the men both in regular cotton uniforms, as well as latex polo uniforms, all with nicely polished leather boots.

Men

This comes with three sets — all assorted, with a combination of men wearing two types of outfits:

  • Cotton polo shirt, cotton shorts, leather boots
  • Latex polo shirt, latex shorts and pants, leather boots

Latex

I discovered recently that Airfuck’s Wild Mix is extremely responsive to latex and not so much to leather. I often prompt for latex because I wear them myself, but in an attempt to try to make the renders more diverse, I tried some of the same prompts in leather, and the renders always look a lot worse and are much less creative.

So I brought this up with Airfuck, the author of the checkpoint model, to figure out the reasons behind it. To my surprise (and possibly delight), it appears that he’s quite an aficionado of latex himself, which might explain why the men in latex look so great with his models. But perhaps more interesting is in regards to the leather responsiveness. He told me that he never prompted for leather when he worked on this model — and that explains everything!

Style

I had mentioned before that I really liked the “default” style of this model — if you don’t use any medium keywords, e.g. photography, painting, anime, etc, then the default style is this highly detailed photorealistic 3D render that’s very painterly. Near-photographic is a style that I personally love the most, so I simply use this style directly.

I think that I personally prefer painterly style over photographic because paintings give more flexibility in terms of color and proportion. I actually tried turning some of the more exaggerated anime into true photographic styles and they always look “off,” but when they are very clearly an illustration or a painting, then you can make idealized forms without them looking strange. It‘s hard to explain this, but if you use a Nijijourney black and white line art and feed it into Line Art control net, then ask it to create a photograph out of it, you’ll immediately see what. I mean.

Sampler

I rendered all of these with the non-Karras version of DPM++ SDE. Although DPM++ SDE Karras is supposed to be faster, in direct A/B comparisons that I have tested, there is a slight edge with the non-Karras versions. So when I render on the RTX 4090, I tend to just render with the regular version, unless I really don’t have time, or I wanted to do quick iterations over concepts.

Note: the IG set references might be slightly off because I had to make very SFW versions for IG and it sometimes changes the order in Lightroom. The images technically should all pass IG content filters but I just can’t leave any room for any human judgements. I have known creators getting flagged for really silly things, e.g. happy trail extending towards the belly button that came from MJ (!!!) So I’m not leaving anything to chance.
