Tattooed Bad Boys. April 7, 2023.

Published on October 8, 2023.

I have always been drawn to the allure of bad boys. There’s something about their opposite nature that attracts me. Coming from an academic family, the unfamiliarity, attractiveness, and excitement of street boys hold a certain appeal for me.

During my time in New York, I dated a guy who carried a gun everywhere — a true street boy. He was raw and direct in his speech. I have a soft spot for people who are down-to-earth and say exactly what they mean. His unedited personality was like a breath of fresh air. It’s unlikely that I would have ever crossed paths with someone like him in my daily life, but thanks to the power of Internet chatrooms, we found each other.

The most amusing aspect of that relationship was how my coworkers would jokingly tell me to “please control your boyfriend” when I brought him to business parties. I was too young to feel embarrassed about it back then, but as I grew older and wiser, I learned to date more socially acceptable guys who were presentable. (LOL)

Technology

In one of the Instagram stories on my main account @GymDreams8, I discussed the concept of “archetype prompting” as a technique. This is an example of how it can be used. Instead of requesting something with potentially multiple interpretations based on context, you can prompt for a broader category that has ample training data. I used the word prisoner in my prompt. Then, ny using the --no flag in Midjourney, you can exclude unwanted subject matters. In this case, words like “chains” and “metal bars” would be appropriate to remove from the generated output.

The same approach can be applied in Stable Diffusion. You can include archetypes in positive prompts and specify unwanted associations in negative prompts to achieve the desired result.

Since both Stable Diffusion and Midjourney are highly sensitive to word count and the order of words, using concise keywords to describe your scene will be more effective than attempting to describe every single detail. You can still provide additional qualifiers, but I recommend placing them towards the end of the prompt where their weight will be lighter.
