Same Pose, Different Places

by GymDreams
After the selfie of feet45pairs. Stable Diffusion, SDXL, control nets

I created a series of photographs and illustrations based on a selfie that feet45paris posted on Instagram.

Using Stable Diffusion and SDXL, I generated around 500 of these images, putting him in different places in Paris, including the Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport, Gare du Nord train station, the Louvre, Versailles, the Eiffel Tower, the Nike store, the Lacoste store, on the street, at the supermarket, and several other urban locations.

The images share a similar pose by using the Depth control net. The clothes he wears also look similar because I have specifically prompted those in the prompts — with cotton shirt and ripped blue jeans.

I then assembled the images together inside Adobe After Effects into a 30fps video, playing a different image every frame to create a video portrait of him — with the same pose, wearing almost the same clothes, but in all different places.

Selfie Series

The Selfie is a commentary about selfies seen all over Instagram. It is a technical challenge, made to see if I could replicate that same look and feel from selfies that are casually snapped, and as such with a figure situated in a surrounding that’s not tidied up. AI is great at making perfect things, so creating surroundings that are natural and messy poses its unique sets of challenges. This series originally started as a joke, but was generally very well received. I also tend to get so many DMs every time I post them because most people don’t read description and they always asked if it’s me. Short answer: no, but the first two me in this series is based on someone special in my heart.
