Couples at the Beach - Paintings DS1
Couples at the Beach Series
As the sun sets on a tranquil beach, two men, hand in hand, walk along the shore, their grip on a sturdy branch embodying the shared journey they are forging—an ode to their unwavering bond and the power of their love.
These paintings all have the same pose, and are all based on a single source painting that I have created a long time ago. That particular image is included as the last image in the image set. You can read more about those paintings in the article titled Gay Couples at the Beach, where I talked about why I made these paintings and what they mean to me.
To derive these paintings from the source image, I used text prompts and two control nets inside Stable Diffusion:
Depth. Depth was used mainly to create the pose of the figures. Although OpenPose is often used for poses, in practice I have found that you can control the pose better with Depth. OpenPose is 2D, so poses where the limbs are not on the same vertical plane will sometimes cause issue. I use a weight < 1 to allow the figures to move around.
- Control Weight: 0.7 - 1.0
- Ending Control Step: 0.7 - 1.0
- Prompt-priority, aka “My prompt is more important”
I put a range of weights above as I change them from image to image.
The source image was originally made in Midjourney using a selected and weighted list of artists that I often use.
