I came from an academic family, and my childhood home was overflown with books. There’s a section in our library for Greek mythology and Roman history. The books were filled with images like this. I would wake up in the middle of the night to read them, when no one was around. When I make these images, I’m really writing my own autobiography, even if it doesn’t seem that way.
