I decided to make a few portraits for the series, capturing the intensity and virility of the men at the baths. However, I’m unsure how to articulate my artistic intentions.

Yesterday, I explained to one of my followers that the men, places, and depictions in my work often do not resemble historical accuracy. They are my personal interpretations, reminiscent of how I used to view paintings of Greek mythology when I was younger.

While I know these characters by name, I remix them in my own stories that may not have any grounding in traditional sources. Therefore, I don’t explicitly discuss them because it would seem nonsensical to others but myself. Additionally, I choose not to explain them because my truths may differ from yours.

Explanation

I’d like to explain a bit about the context of these Roman Baths. While they contain elements of history, they also intertwine with mythology. These elements originate from my personal universe rather than the one depicted in history books.

From a young age, I had been able to dream lucidly — the ability to recognize and control my dreams. This allowed me to construct intricate stories within my dreams, sometimes spanning nearly a whole year. Unfortunately, as I’ve grown older, this ability has become increasingly rare. It still happens occasionally, but only when my mind is very relaxed, such as if I decide to take a 4-week vacation in the middle of nowhere.

In any case, I had my own universe and construct in that dream world, filled with characters that are relevant. It mixes historic figures and mythological figures together as it relates to me. It defies natural history of the world because they are my own construct, yet because they happened during lucid dreaming, they could sometimes feel more real than reality. If you can dream lucidly, you would understand it. It’s nearly impossible to explain why it feels that way.

In any case, let’s talk about the warrior’s belt seen in the latest painting. It represents a genuine character within my dreamscape. To provide a relatable reference, it bears resemblance to the wooden box in the TV series “A Discovery of Witches,” where Meridiana, an ancient witch, was trapped inside a box, such that Gerbert, a vampire, could draw her powers. In this depiction, the belt features a non-human entity that grants the warrior his strength to overcome challenges.

However, if this concept feels overwhelming, feel free to view it simply as an intricately sculpted belt. Both interpretations are valid.

It’s becoming increasingly difficult to keep track of the edits I make, so I’ve started the practice of adding unique serial numbers to my AI work. I do the same for my photography. It helps me locate things quickly both locally and on the internet.
